Hey You, Get Over Here!

This week in our Social Media Strategies we got to hear from online marketing expert, Rebecca Wardlow. Rebecca delivered a powerful presentation that laid out how online marketing works.

Since I am a Public Relation’s student, it is always great to hear from people who are in the same field as myself, but may have a different idea they can bring to the table. If you read my blog last week, “The Umbrella Effect“, you know Marketing and Public Relations professionals have to work together.

So how do Marketing Professionals market online?

Step 1: Offer a lead magnet

Offering a lead magnet is something that grabs the readers eye, and gives them an irresistible offer, in exchange for the readers contact information. This is how you build up your email list. How many times have you gone to an online retailer, and been offered something small in exchange for your email?

Step 2: Offer a trip wire

The second step dives a little bit deeper. This calls the consumers to action. This is an offer that has a low monetary value. This will hopefully give the consumer something they like so they have a positive association with your brand.

Step 3: Offer a core product

This is where you offer the consumer what you are trying to get them to buy. This is where you get them to buy into your main product line.

Step 4: Offer a profit maximizer

Now, its time to make your money. Offer something that the “loyal” consumer is going to want to buy, that is going to maximize your profits. This is where you target your loyal customers into buying something just because your brand made it.

Step 5: Create a return path

Now here is the tricky part….Creating a return path. Creating a return path is what makes your consumers want to return to your website. Creating a return path is a target to those consumers you have a history with.

Marketing is a unique and useful tool when it comes to selling different products. As a Public Relations student, we have to work together to reaching our consumers on different levels.

Hayden’s Not-So-Important Opinion?

Consumers probably don’t want to be targeted by ad after ad. Stop selling all the time and actually build a relationship.

Hayden’s Advice of the Week?

Always remember that different prospectives working together creates a masterpiece.
